I'm considering hiring a general contractor who seems honest, skilled, and reasonably priced, but he doesn't like to work with insurance companies and won't provide a line-by-line detailed estimate for my claim. He's given me reasonable quotes for the major project components, but I'm concerned about whether I can still choose him for rebuilding my house. How will the insurance process work with him, and what should I be aware of if I decide to go with this contractor instead of my insurance's recommended choices? Any advice from experience would be really appreciated. Thanks!
