I recently tried to hang a 27" TV using sleeve anchors in my century-old house, which has old plaster and brick walls. Unfortunately, despite tightening them as much as I could, the anchors are still too loose and expanding, leaving me with bigger holes than before. I'm looking for advice on what my next steps should be. Any suggestions?

Have you checked if there's actual plaster on top of the brick? If that's the case, I'd suggest using Tapcon screws directly into the brick. Make sure they're long enough to go through the plaster too. Just a heads up: when using Tapcon screws, keep the holes dust-free and tighten them by hand instead of with a drill, so you avoid over-tightening!

You might be onto something! I think I also made the mistake of using shorter sleeve anchors, so they didn't grip well enough. Wish I had gone for longer ones. Do you think adding longer screws could help, or have I messed up my holes too much?
