I have a DeWalt DW708 miter saw and the laser has been acting up for a while, but now it's completely stopped working. I took the laser off and found some dirt inside, which I cleaned up with contact cleaner. I also replaced the batteries, although the new ones (357/303) aren't the original model (1154). After reassembling everything, the laser still won't turn on. Is there anything else I can try before I give up and replace the whole laser assembly?

You might want to look into an LED shadow kit that some users have been talking about. It’s supposed to provide more accuracy than the laser. I think it’s worth exploring if you’re looking for alternatives. Just do a quick search for LED blade shadow kits to find some options you can use instead of the laser.
What should I search for besides 'DeWalt saw LED kit'? I found some replacement lasers but want to make sure I’m looking in the right area.
Lol, have you thought about contacting the laser's union rep for a performance review? Kidding aside, it sounds like you've done quite a lot already. Sometimes, even a simple connection issue can cause the laser to stop working. Check if all the wires are intact and properly connected. If everything seems fine, it may be time to consider a replacement.

I had no idea! I'll definitely check that out. I do like the laser when it works, though.
