What should I do with stairs after finishing my basement?

I had a flood in my basement back in December and January, and now I've removed everything, including the wall-to-wall carpet that I didn't want to lose in the first place. I'm planning to install luxury vinyl plank (LVP) on the floor, but I'm uncertain about what to do with the stairs since they were carpeted before as well. I've heard mixed opinions about using LVP on stairs. Does anyone here have experience with LVP on stairs? If not, what other options should I consider? Currently, the stairs have a weird look because someone painted around where the carpet treads used to be, so they're half-painted. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

I took off the carpet on my stairs and painted them white, then added a runner for some style. If the runner wears out, it's super easy to replace. It sounds like your stairs might have been white at some point too, so you could consider that!

Thanks! That sounds like a good option. Did you go for a solid runner or individual carpet treads on each step?
