What Should I Plant in My 17-Gallon Bucket?

I have a 17-gallon bucket that's empty after trying (and failing) to grow sweet potato slips. Now I'm looking for suggestions on what to plant instead. I've already got a good number of tomatoes and peppers, plus two other buckets with potatoes and a bunch of zucchini and yellow squash. I'm located in zone 9a, where it gets super hot. Any ideas?

Watermelons and cucumbers are both excellent choices for buckets. You can even trellis them to save space. If you're leaning towards cucumbers, you could comfortably fit about two or three plants in that size bucket!

How about trying basil, tomatillos (just remember you need two for them to pollinate), or even some bunching onions? Cucamelons could also be fun to grow! If you're unsure, just swing by your local nursery and see what looks good right now.

You might want to consider growing carrots; they can actually do quite well in containers like yours! Just make sure to give them enough depth to grow.
