What Should I Plant in My Raised Garden Bed for an Upcoming Party?

Hey everyone! I'm working at a retirement home and have been given the chance to maintain a raised garden bed. We've got a garden party coming up in less than a week, and I need to fill up the space I cleared out, which has a tomato plant and a couple of flowers left (some lilies and a gladiolus). I'm located in Zone 8 in the Pacific Northwest and honestly, my experience with gardening is pretty much just houseplants. If you were in my shoes and could plant just a few things to liven up the bed in a hurry, what would you suggest? Looking for some quick tips!

If you're looking for a quick fix, just swing by your local garden center and grab whatever flowers are in bloom right now. They'll add color pronto!

Good point! But here's a thought: we're in a bit of a heatwave right now, and some say to wait until it cools down to plant. What do you think—will the heatwave be too harsh for new plants?
