I'm looking for advice on what I can directly plant in my garden right now for zone 7b. I've already started growing tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, pumpkin, squash, beans, lettuce, spinach, some peppers, turnips, and a variety of herbs. I have plenty of space left and want to make the most of it! Are there any fruit trees I can plant at this time? Also, is it too late to plant asparagus, potatoes, or sweet potatoes?

It really depends on whether you want to plant for this season or for future years. Asparagus takes a while—about 2-3 years to fully mature. But if you're cool with that wait, now is as good a time as any to start! Just keep that timeline in mind if you're thinking of harvesting soon.

I don't mind waiting! I'd rather plant them now than wait until spring, but I wasn't sure if it's too late for them.
