I'm looking to expand my gardening and propagation efforts, growing flowers, tomatoes, and sweet corn on about half an acre. I live in a wet and windy area on the north coast of Northern Ireland and want to get a jump on the growing season. I was thinking a greenhouse that's 3m wide and 2m high would work, as I need enough space to stand up while I'm tending to my plants. The greenhouse will be set against a south-facing wall on a concrete patio. Do you think this size is appropriate?

I don't think you can ever really go too big with a greenhouse! It could be a nice spot to relax with a cup of tea or a good book on those cold, wet days. If you’re going with a lean-to, check out some second-hand conservatories, or consider building one yourself using old windows and a simple wooden frame. It could save you some cash!
That sounds like a decent size, but I'd suggest considering both a greenhouse and a polytunnel. A greenhouse can serve as a workspace for propagation, while the polytunnel is great for growing plants that need more space, like tomatoes, which can get quite large. Plus, if you plan to explore other crops like sweet potatoes or loofas, you'll definitely want that extra space for the polytunnel. Do you think you might expand your gardening ambitions in the future?
Honestly, you should get the biggest greenhouse you can afford and fit in your space. Trust me, you won't regret it! Having more room is always better for comfort and different planting options.
