Hey everyone! I'm totally new to woodworking, so I have a quick question. What size hole saw do I actually need to drill a hole in a door for a door knob? Any advice would be really appreciated!

There are specific kits you can get that include both the hole saws and templates. If you’re new to this, I’d totally recommend going for one of those. They’re affordable and really help avoid misalignment mistakes!

You guys are probably right; I’ll grab one of those kits then! Don't want to mess it up. Thanks!

Check out a door lock installation kit like the ones on Amazon or Harbor Freight—it’s about $15. They really help with precision for the door latches, and the jigs that come with them make your life a lot easier!

Thank you! That sounds really useful. I just need the bit for the main hole since I've got the knob holes cut out, but the old ones were too small for modern knobs.

From what I found, you'll need a 2 1/8" hole saw for the main hole and a 1" one for the latch. Most door knob kits come with a template too, which makes it way easier to get it right!

Thank you!
