Hey everyone! I have a bunch of battery-operated tools for cutting wood, but I don't have much for dust collection beyond a couple of shop vacs. When I'm working inside a regular room, I prefer to use a handsaw since it creates less dust that stays put on the ground, making cleanup easier. I'm wondering if there's a power tool out there that can cut wood slowly and generate heavier dust that doesn't go airborne? Ideally, something slower than a jigsaw on its lowest setting. It's like wanting a power tool that works as diligently as a microwave—easy and low mess!

Honestly, you might be better off sticking to your handsaw. If dust is a major concern, investing in a 4" dust collection system at Harbor Freight could help. Just a thought!
You might want to consider a decent scroll saw; it’s effective for finer cuts and cleanup isn’t too bad. Just keep in mind it can't handle very thick woods, though!
Hand tools are usually just fine! You might want to check out Paul Sellers; he has some great insights on using hand tools effectively.
For better dust control, you might want to install an air filtration system. Something like the Jet AFS-850 would help filter the air. If you want a simpler approach, set up a fan facing out of a window to push dusty air outside. Oh, and make sure to wear a respirator! Dust can linger for days and it’s important to stay safe!
A track saw connected to a shop vac could be a great option for you. I’ve got the Makita corded version and it does an excellent job with dust collection, keeping the mess to a minimum!
Totally agree! Sometimes sticking with what works is the best route. Plus, handsaws are often overlooked as a solid choice.
