Hey everyone! I'm planning to plant some trailing nasturtiums in my hanging baskets. I've got the seeds ready, but I haven't grown them in containers before. Is multipurpose compost a good option? Or should I look for something from the garden center that has less nutrients, since I know they prefer poorer soil? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Coir is a great choice if you can find it at your garden center! It's low in nutrients and comes in compressed blocks made from coconut husks. You can mix it into your multipurpose compost to lower the nutrient levels a bit for the nasturtiums.
Yeah, these plants are known for thriving on neglect! Just make sure they get enough water and light, and they'll be happy in whatever soil you provide.
Don't worry too much! Nasturtiums are super adaptable and will grow just about anywhere. I used regular compost last year and they thrived, just like those planted in the ground.

Thanks! I'll definitely look for coir.
