I've been pulling dandelions from my garden for years, but I just came across this bizarre one that looks like a giant version! It's soft to the touch and has what seems like hundreds of dandelion stalks growing in a dense mass. Does anyone know what this could be? I added a pic in the comments for reference!

It looks like you've got a fasciated dandelion on your hands! It's a pretty neat plant anomaly. Essentially, fasciation occurs when there's a growth irregularity, and it can make plants appear really unusual and dense like yours. Definitely an interesting find!
This is just a quirk in plant growth called fasciation! It happens with various plants, including sunflowers. There are some wild examples that pop up all over the gardening community. Your monster dandelion is just a unique occurrence, nothing to worry about! You could even keep it around for a while and enjoy its unusualness!
Right? It’s a pretty cool sight! And I wonder if this trait could pass down; it could be a fun treat for rabbits!

Thanks for the info! I love that it's not going to take over my garden. I might just let it chill for a bit longer.
