Hey there! I'm planning to seed some white clover into my small lawn before I put down grass this year, but I'd love to know if there are any other small, low-growing flowers I can sow as well. I was thinking about daisies, but they seem a bit too large at 30cm. I noticed some tiny purple flowers in Hampshire that only grow about 1cm above the ground around the fields. We don't mow until May, so I'm curious if those would work. Also, would self heal thrive, or would it end up getting too big for my lawn? Just a heads up, my lawn tends to be wet in winter and bone dry in summer!

Crocus could be just what you're looking for! They come in purple, yellow, and white and are super cheerful as the first blooms after winter. Snowdrops might not be the best choice since they tend to get a bit too tall and can overshadow the grass, though some folks still have them flourishing in their lawns.
It sounds like you might be talking about prunella vulgaris, which is a great little flower to have in your lawn. Just keep in mind, it has tiny flowers that resemble small orchids—only about 2mm wide! They’d be a lovely addition.

If you’re looking for hardy flowers that can handle some mowing, consider violets, field woodrush, dandelion, daisy, plantain, self heal, white clover, and hawkbit. They all seem to thrive in lawns where they get cut occasionally!
