What to Check When Buying a Used Festool Domino?

Hey folks! I just snagged a "used - like new" Festool Domino 500 from Amazon, and it should be here in a few days. It was priced at $900 plus tax and shipping, and the seller claims it was only used on three jobs. It comes with the 8mm bit, so I want to do a thorough inspection while I can still return it. What are the key things I should check for? Are there common issues or particular parts that tend to wear out? Also, what additional items should I consider buying to get it up and running? I haven't grabbed any tenons yet—should I get a few different sizes? Thanks!

Good idea to check the tenons! They usually run around $20 for a pack of 100, but prices can vary. It's worth having two or three sizes on hand, especially if you're tackling different projects.

Thanks for the tip! I might have to budget an extra $50-75 for those then.

It's cool that you're checking out used tools on Amazon! Just a heads up, make sure you have the correct size tenons ready to test and ensure everything cuts well. The Domino has three different width settings, so test all of them. Also, grab some dressed lumber to make sure your joinery is square. That's super important!

Yeah, testing with nice, square lumber makes a big difference. You definitely want everything fitting perfectly!
