I'm meeting up with someone tonight to purchase a used 10" Skil table saw that's in pretty good condition based on its reviews. Since it doesn't come with a warranty, I'm a bit unsure about what to look for before I finalize the deal. I plan to plug it in to see if it works and bring a square to check the alignment, but I'm wondering if there are other key things to inspect. What should I be checking for when buying a used table saw?

Honestly, if you want peace of mind, buying new is the way to go. I have the same Skil 10” table saw, and it’s been a reliable tool, along with my Skil miter saw and other Skil products. It might be worth considering a new purchase instead!
Definitely make sure it powers up smoothly! Listen for any weird bearing noises and check for excessive vibration while it's running. Inspect the surface for rust too; light surface rust can be cleaned up, but deep pits might be a dealbreaker. You should also check that the fence locks tightly and doesn’t budge when you push against it. Make sure all blade wrenches and the miter gauge are included. Only after checking all that should you hand over your cash!

I just saw this model for $281 on Amazon, so you're getting it at a decent price if you score it for $190! While some might think $110 off isn't worth the risk, getting a solid understanding of any potential red flags can make it worth your while to buy used.
True, new tools come with less risk, but saving money could be great if the saw checks out!
