Hi everyone! I need some urgent advice. My partner accidentally sprayed Yates buffalo weed killer on the lawn right under our huge lemon tree without realizing it could harm the tree. I'm really worried about it! Should we consider removing the lawn entirely? I've read that we might be able to flush out the chemicals with plenty of watering and then use Seasol to help the tree recover. Is this true? We really don't want to lose our beloved lemon tree! Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

Talk to your partner about safer alternatives for dealing with weeds. That stuff can seep into groundwater and cause more harm in the long run. For your lemon tree, overwatering might help flush out some of the poison, but just be careful it doesn’t do more harm than good. If the soil is really dry, maybe even remove a few inches of it to try to get past the surface where the weed killer landed. Fingers crossed your tree makes it!
You might be okay as long as the spray wasn't at full strength. The so-called 'buffalo safe' version is less harmful to other plants, but watch for any signs of stress in your tree. If you're really worried, it could be worth calling the manufacturer for more specific advice based on your situation!
It's probably too late to reverse any damage now, but let’s hope for the best. As a general tip, I’d suggest avoiding any type of poison in your garden going forward. It can have serious consequences for the environment and the surrounding wildlife. Just more reason to stick to pulling unwanted plants out by their roots instead of using chemicals! Good luck with your tree—it might just bounce back!
Yeah, I totally get that! I was also out of town when my partner did something similar, so I feel your pain.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think I’ll definitely reach out to them for more info.
