What Tool Can I Use to Round the Ends of Sticks?

I'm looking for a tool that can fit over the end of a stick and help me spin around it to shape the end into a cylindrical form, like a peg or dowel. I assume there has to be something out there for this purpose, but I'm not sure what it's called. I'm aware of using a lathe, but that's not ideal if the stick isn't perfectly straight, plus it's a bit risky for kids' woodworking projects. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You might want to check out a tenon cutter drill bit. They're pretty useful for shaping the ends of sticks into pegs, and you can find them easily online.

The tool you're looking for is called a hollow auger. It works well for making rounded ends, especially if you use it along with a spoke pointer. They come in various types, including adjustable ones, so you can find the right fit for your needs. Plus, you'll get nice, even shapes!

Is there any place I can still buy a hollow auger, or would I have to hope to find an antique on eBay I could fix up?
