What type of corner bead is best for my basement drywall project?

I'm in the process of finishing my basement and I'm looking to choose the right corner bead for my drywall. I didn't realize there were different materials available! I'm hoping to find an affordable option that will still be durable. Any suggestions?

I've had good luck with vinyl. It's lightweight and holds up really well. Just a heads up, the flanges are a bit thicker than those on metal ones, so you'll want to feather the mud out more. But with a larger mud knife, it’s manageable! Also, putting them on straight can be a bit tricky depending on your wall's condition.

I was leaning towards vinyl for durability, but I can see how it might be harder to install straight. Thanks for the heads-up!

For your outside corners, I'd recommend using wide paper-faced metal corner bead. It's pretty easy to work with and gives a clean finish. For the inside corners, just stick with good old paper tape. It's the easiest way to finish those up!

Thanks for the input! Just to clarify, I'm planning to use tape for the insides. I mainly needed suggestions for the outside corners.

I'd say go for paper-faced metal for the outsides. It just works better in terms of finishing, and it’s widely recommended!

Seriously? Now I'm even more confused! I thought I had it narrowed down. Thanks for your thoughts!
