What type of door can I use for my closet without trim or a frame?

I'm looking to install a door for my closet that doesn't require any trim, wood jam, or frame. Previously, it had those annoying sliding doors from the 70s that would always get stuck or fall off. Is there any option that I can just put directly into the drywall? Thanks!

It sounds like you're in a bit of a jam! Unfortunately, there's really no door that can just hang on drywall alone without some support—you're gonna need those 2x4 studs on either side. Have you thought about using a barn door design? That might work if you still have some space on the left side of the opening.

But how did they get the old doors up in the first place? Are you saying I can't just screw into the drywall like with the top tracks? All my closets have those track doors too, and I'm worried about having to resort to that again.
