Hey everyone! I'm planning to refinish an old dresser and I don't currently own a sander. I'm trying to figure out which type would be best for getting into odd patterns and detailed areas. Should I go with an orbital sander, a sheet sander, or does it not really make a difference? I'm definitely looking for one with a dust collection option too!

Definitely go for a random orbital sander! They're super versatile and you can use them for just about anything. I had a quarter sheet sander too, but it just sat in the garage collecting dust for years.
If you’re working on patterns and detailed areas, you're probably going to need to do some of that by hand. For the larger flat surfaces, a random orbital sander is perfect. Just keep in mind you might want to grab some soft sponge pads to help out with molding or trim work.

Totally agree! The foam pads can make a big difference when you're working on intricate details.
