Hey everyone! I just moved into a budget-friendly apartment and noticed there's no range hood installed. The landlord suggested a microwave over the range, but I've heard they don't have great suction power, so I'm leaning towards a traditional hood. The thing is, I've been doing some research and came across info saying that I might need a ductless model. I have a gas range, so I'm confused about what kind of range hood to buy. Any advice on what I should look for would be greatly appreciated! Also, I've shared some pictures in the comments if you need more context.

Definitely go for a ducted model if possible. Those over-the-range microwaves can be quite limited in how much they can pull, especially if you're cooking a lot. If ducting is not an option for your setup, focus on getting a powerful ductless hood that fits your kitchen design. Hope that helps!
Make sure to check the installation requirements too, as some might need professional setup!
For a gas range, it's best to go with a ducted range hood if you can vent outside. They generally provide better ventilation compared to ductless options. If you really have to go ductless, make sure it has a charcoal filter to help with odors, but keep in mind it won't be as effective as ducted. Check the specs to match the size of your range for optimal performance!
Also, don’t forget to check the CFM rating—higher is usually better for gas ranges!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely look into ducted options then.

Great advice! I appreciate the suggestions.
