What upgrades can we make while we have the drywall down?

We're renovating our house with two suites: we're living in the older lower suite and plan to rent out the nicer upper suite. We've already removed the drywall from all the walls and ceilings between the suites to install ductwork and a zoned heat pump system, soundproof between the suites, and document the wiring and plumbing locations. Is there anything else we should consider doing before we close everything back up? We work in the trades, so we want to take advantage of this opportunity to make improvements.

Now's the perfect time to add outlets where you think you'll need them. Also, think about things like a pot filler by the stove or a pet water filler if you have animals. Oh, and if you're doing any plumbing work, this could be a good chance to check and replace anything that needs it.

Running wired internet is a great idea; it's useful for cameras and fiber-based cable services. Also, consider adding staggered studs for better sound abatement. Don't forget to think about future needs – maybe run some conduits or install double outlets so you have extra power where you might need it later.

Definitely consider installing a recessed exhaust box for your dryer and adding soundproofing measures between rooms, especially the bathrooms. You might also want to wire for things like home theater setups or even some extra phone charger plugs if you think you'll need them.
