Hey folks! I'm diving into some research about building a custom or semi-custom home and I'm super interested in hearing from anyone who's been through this process. If you're willing to share, I'd love to know:
1. What did you find to be the most stressful or confusing part of the process? Was it choosing materials, working with your builder, keeping everything within budget, or something else entirely?
2. Are there any tools or resources you wish had existed to make the experience easier or more enjoyable, like checklists, mood boards, or design guidance?
3. If you could turn back time, what's one thing you would do differently?
I'm not in the construction business or selling anything—just trying to gain insight from the homeowner perspective. Any experiences you share would be greatly appreciated! ?

For me, the toughest thing was just the sheer volume of decisions we had to make. Since we did a DIY renovation, we didn’t have a builder making selections for us, which was freeing but also exhausting. Figuring out things like paint colors and the right finishes was like running a marathon!
Honestly, for us, the hardest part was managing the budget. It’s wild how quickly expenses add up and you find yourself stretching financially. It can get really overwhelming if you’re not careful!
Digging out the foundation was a serious workout! I never thought I'd be that sore from digging a hole, but wow, was I wrong. It definitely wasn’t what I expected to be one of the hardest parts of the process.

Absolutely! You think you’ve planned for everything but then unexpected costs pop up and you're left scrambling.
