I'm curious to hear about everyone's biggest letdowns in gardening this year. Personally, my dahlias were a huge disappointment; one didn't flower at all, and the others had their buds die before they even had a chance to bloom. How about you all?

Dahlias let me down as well. Some of my plants are massive while others are just starting to bud now. I doubt I’ll see any blooms this year from those!
It's annoying when they play hard to get. I’m considering trying different locations for planting next time.
My hydrangeas were a total flop. Despite trying my best to keep them hydrated, the heat was just relentless. Since they were newly planted in a different garden, their leaves turned brown and dropped off. Fingers crossed they'll bounce back next year!
Hydrangeas can be pretty resilient. If you give them a good prune, they should recover well. Mine were okay with extra watering, at least.
Yeah, they really need a lot of water. I mulched mine, and that helped a ton.
Tomatoes were a bust for me again. Managed to get just two average-sized green ones from five plants! Every year I vow to skip them, yet here I am planting them again next season!
That’s rough! I planted mine super early too, but all my other veggies bolted early.
This year was great for my tomatoes! I started them early and got loads from just two plants.

Sounds frustrating! I planted some dahlias too, but the heat got to them. I’m thinking next year I'll focus more on irrigation.
