I'm creating some adorable s'mores boxes to hold all the delicious ingredients—like marshmallows, chocolate bars, and graham crackers. I'm aiming for a design that mimics a s'more: a base made of tan wood, wider than the sides, topped with a thin layer of black walnut (to represent chocolate), then a layer of either maple or birch (for marshmallows), followed by another thin black walnut layer and a tan wood lid, ideally with 'S'MORES' branded on top. I initially considered using white oak, since it has a sort of tan hue with a clear finish, but it doesn't quite hit the mark. I've thought about holly, which is quite white, but I haven't worked with it or seen it available. Any advice on the right wood choices?

I think silky oak could be a good fit too. I’m colorblind myself, but from what I see, it might just have the shade you need!
Cherry wood is a fantastic choice! It has a lovely tan color that goes well with walnut and maple, though keep in mind it will darken over time. It’s a great match for the graham cracker look you’re going for. Alternatively, you could explore alder for a similar vibe; I've heard great things about its workability and pleasant scent when crafting.
Definitely go for alder if you can find it! It’s not only affordable but also super easy to work with, although clear pieces can be a bit tough to track down. Plus, it smells great when you're working with it!
Beech wood struck me as a solid option right away—definitely worth considering for the right shade.
Have you considered birdseye maple? It has a unique grain and color that really gives off a graham cracker feel; it could look amazing as part of your project!

Yeah, cherry would really complement the walnut and maple well! Alder could also be a solid option.
