I'm new to woodworking and I keep seeing different recommendations, but I can't seem to find a comprehensive answer. What are considered the best and easiest types of wood for beginner woodworkers? I want to get started but would love to know which woods are forgiving, readily available, and won't break the bank!

Maple can be an excellent choice too. It’s affordable, stable, and has gorgeous grain patterns. Just remember it can burn if you're not careful. Another option is cherry; it's lovely to work with and pretty to look at, but might be a bit pricey for practice pieces.
Poplar is a fantastic option for beginners! It’s super easy to work with, relatively cheap, and takes paint well so you can really make your pieces pop. If you're lucky, you might even find some beautiful rainbow poplar boards that are often overlooked.
I recommend starting with pine. It's super affordable and easy to work with, which is perfect for newbies. Even if you mess up, you won’t lose too much money. Just focus on getting your skills down before worrying about finishes.
That's a solid point! I've heard pine can get a bit messy with precision, though, right?

Yeah, poplar really is great for practice and projects. Just keep in mind it might not be the prettiest wood for natural finishes.
