I've got a patch of blackberries and a family member is organizing strangers to come pick them. I'm considering asking for half of what they pick, but I'm unsure if that's too much. Should I settle for asking for a third or even a quarter instead? To clarify, I love blackberries and want to enjoy them regularly throughout the year, so I don't want them to go to waste. I'm okay with letting family members pick as much as they'd like, but these strangers are selling the berries for $20 a gallon, which makes me a bit hesitant about giving them away. I'd also be willing to pick some myself if needed.

Honestly, if I were in your shoes and someone asked for half, I'd probably just skip to someone else's berries. It seems a bit steep, especially since they might just scout somewhere else. Maybe start lower and see how it goes?

I think it really depends on how much of a deal they’re getting. When I was a kid, we picked cherries from a neighbor's tree and just exchanged them for some homemade jam. You could think along those lines too!
