Hey everyone, I could really use some advice here. Our retaining wall is seriously falling apart, and my makeshift repairs just aren't doing the trick. We've reached out for quotes; the first one was about $11,000 last month, and the second one we received today came in at $15,500. This price includes taking down and removing the old railroad tie wall, some soil excavation, and building a new keystone wall with proper drainage. The wall dimensions are 2 feet high and 60 feet long. We're still gathering more estimates, but are these prices in line with what you guys think is reasonable, given the current material and labor costs in Southern California? Thanks a bunch!

Honestly, the quotes don't look too outrageous to me considering the area. However, if you can wait a few months, things might get slower, and prices could drop as demand goes down. Just keep an eye on it!
In Southern California, labor costs can be pretty steep, so a minimum price around $10k for any decent-sized project isn't unusual these days. Just a heads up, costs are kind of all over the place right now, but expect to pay a premium for skilled work.
Yeah, I hear you. I actually tried buttressing it with rebar since my last post, but it just keeps leaning more. It's noticeably leaning about 20 degrees now after every rain, and it freaks me out! Definitely not what I was hoping for.
