What’s a Fun Woodworking Project for Beginners?

I've recently started getting into woodworking, and I'm looking for a fun project that won't make me dread the whole experience. I'm not interested in just making a basic box for practice; I want something that feels satisfying to complete, even if it's a simple build. What's a project you've made that made you think, 'Okay, this is actually enjoyable?'

A cutting board was my favorite starter project! I got a couple of boards, joined them together, and learned how to chamfer the edges. I even added a juice groove. It might sound simple, but it was really rewarding starting from scratch. I also made a DM screen and a pipe early on, but they turned out... interesting, to say the least!

My first project was actually a small stand for my iPod! I needed something to hold it upright while it charged on my desk, and making it was super satisfying, even if it wasn't perfect. Maybe think about what small needs you have that a project could solve? That can make it more fun!

Building shelves can be both fun and functional! You can keep it simple with just a sanded pine board on metal brackets, or you can go all out and create your own fancy wooden brackets. Plus, once you're done, you get to fill them with your stuff and show off your handiwork! It’s pretty satisfying, trust me.

True, yeah! Shelves are basically boxes missing some sides, huh?
