What’s a good replacement for cardboard in my window?

I'm trying to find a better alternative to the cardboard I currently have in my window to block out the weather. I'd like to use something that's easy to cut so I can create a flap or small window – sometimes I want to open the window, but I don't want to remove the cardboard each time. I've searched online, but nothing seems to fit what I'm looking for. Is there a specific name for this type of window covering, maybe something like plexiglass? Any suggestions would be really appreciated! Thank you!

It sounds like you might want to check out Azek! It’s a durable material, but I'm not quite sure how you'd do the flap part.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just want to be able to cut a section out for a flap, so if Azek can work for that, great!

If you’re looking for something really simple, poster board could work too, but it might not hold up as well against the weather.

You could consider using corrugated plastic. It's quite lightweight and easy to cut, plus it provides good insulation.
