I accidentally bumped my garage door with the golf cart, leaving a small hole that I need to fix. My plan is to attach a thin piece of wood behind it, then fill the hole. While I think Bondo would work fine, I'm curious if there's a lighter and easier alternative out there. Any suggestions?

It really depends on what material your garage door is made of. Bondo is actually pretty light, but the main concern is that any filler will struggle with the vibrations and movements from the door. That said, for garage doors, Bondo is still probably your best bet since it’s specifically designed for repairs like this. Weight isn’t as much of an issue as you might think!
Bondo is definitely a light option, but if you're hesitant to use it, consider the material of your door. For fiberglass doors, it can be trickier and they tend to have bad vapors. A wood filler would work for wooden doors, while metal ones might benefit from an epoxy product. Just keep in mind the thermal expansion since garage doors deal with all kinds of weather!
Great advice, thanks!
If you want something lighter than Bondo, maybe try stuffing some feathers in there and covering it with CA glue? Just kidding! But seriously, Bondo is likely your best option. Good luck with the repair!

Thanks for the tips!
