What’s a Reasonable Price for Mowing a 0.5 Acre Yard?

Hey everyone! I'm renting a place with a 0.5 acre backyard, and I have someone who mows it bi-weekly for $40 (it was $35 before). I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting a fair deal here. Is this a good price, or should I consider buying a used riding mower to handle it myself? I'd love to hear what you all are paying and how it compares!

$40 every two weeks seems pretty reasonable to me. In some places, if they have to spend 1.5 to 2 hours, they won't charge less than that. You might find someone cheaper, especially if you provide your own mower, but overall, it sounds fair!

Yeah, $600 a year for that is actually a good deal.

Honestly, I think $40 is a steal. Most places I know of are charging at least $60 for a similar yard. If you're up for it, you could always try mowing a section one day and the other the next if you decide to do it yourself, but with your situation, it might be easier to let the pros handle it!

That sounds like a smart way to approach it! If you break it down, it keeps it manageable.

Prices really vary by location. If you can ask around with your neighbors, you might get a better gauge. If they're also doing edging and other landscaping for that $40, it's definitely worth it! In some areas, similar services can go for much more.
