I'm trying to figure out which tool is more versatile for outdoor work—should I go for a one-handed reciprocating saw or an 8-inch chainsaw? They both seem effective for tasks like clearing brush and trimming branches, but I'd love to hear thoughts on their overall utility.

I'd say that if your primary task is pruning, the mini chainsaw is a better pick. It’s really efficient for that specific job. But for all-around use, the one-handed reciprocating saw is lighter and requires less maintenance, plus it can reach tight spots easily.
Honestly, I think the reciprocating saw is more versatile. It can handle a wider range of materials beyond just wood, making it great for demolition and rough pruning. The chainsaw, on the other hand, is excellent for pruning but doesn't do much else well.
I use my reciprocating saw way more often than my chainsaw! It’s just more flexible and handles various situations better.

Yeah, the reciprocating saw is a champ for heavy-duty jobs. It might not be the best for precision pruning like the chainsaw, but for general use, it takes the cake.
