I'm working on some raised beds and between them is a row of mulch or wood chips. I'm trying to figure out what to lay over the grass before I add the mulch. Should I use black plastic, landscape fabric, or is there a better option out there? Thanks for the advice!

You might be better off not using any covering at all. Just throw the wood chips directly down. You could also spread some dwarf clover seeds; it grows nicely and can be a great companion for your garden!
Honestly, I wouldn't use either black plastic or landscape fabric. A layer of black and white newspaper along with some cardboard works great to suppress the grass and weeds!
Cardboard topped with mulch is a solid choice! It definitely helps with weed management, plus it's biodegradable, so it won't stay around forever.

Yeah, I heard cardboard can have PFAS, though. I guess it's still effective for covering, but just keep that in mind for food production areas.
