What’s Causing These Mysterious Banging Noises in My House?

Hey everyone,

I'm dealing with some bizarre banging noises in my house that sound like a ball hitting the ground. It happens at random times throughout the day and night, and it's loudest in my main bedroom and kitchen areas, which are directly above one another. The house is about 7-8 years old, and I've never experienced this before. I've already tried common fixes, like repressurizing the water to check for 'water hammer' issues and inspecting the kitchen hood vent, but no luck so far. There are also no loose items visible on the outside of the house. Has anyone else dealt with similar sounds, and how did you manage to fix it?

Any chance there's a bunch of woodpeckers outside? I know it sounds silly, but I've seen them go to town on houses, especially if they're looking for grubs. Just a thought!

Do you have any teenagers at home? Sometimes they can cause a ruckus without you even realizing it! Just kidding, but it could be worth investigating! ?

Haha, I do have teenagers! I'm definitely curious about where you're going with this!

It might be an HVAC issue. My outside unit makes a terrible knocking sound when it shuts down, and sometimes the inside unit also has a wind turbine-like noise when it turns on. You might want to check yours to see if it's making any unusual sounds that could be causing the banging.
