What’s Going On With My Floor?

While I was brushing my teeth, I suddenly heard and felt three loud 'bonks' coming from right under my feet. It was powerful enough that I felt the floor splintering beneath me! I'm puzzled because it feels like there might be something stuck under the flooring, like a small rock or maybe a nail. Just to note, I live in an apartment and there hasn't been any maintenance or repairs happening lately. Can anyone help me figure out what could have caused this?

It sounds like you might have experienced a flooring crack. If it seems solid now, I’d recommend notifying your landlord and then try not to stress about it!

Could there be someone living below you who might have hammered something into their ceiling? That could explain the noise you felt and heard.

Or maybe it’s a poltergeist? Just kidding, but seriously, that sounds really strange! Hope you get it sorted!
