What’s Going Wrong with My Pumpkin and Zucchini Plants?

Hey everyone! I recently planted a small garden in my new home and this is my first full spring/summer here. I have some zucchini and pumpkin plants that are looking beautiful with lots of blossoms, and I've seen a few pollinators buzzing around. However, as August approaches, I'm starting to worry since I haven't seen any fruit forming! My soil is healthy and I keep up with weeding and watering. What can I do to help my toddler get a pumpkin from this garden?

It's pretty common to first see a lot of male flowers before the female ones show up. Typically, they'll start appearing once the plants mature a bit. By the way, when did you plant your seedlings? That can make a difference too!

I planted them indoors before transferring them outside, and I’d say they went into the ground around mid-May.

Have you checked if your plants are getting enough sun and warmth? It might seem like a silly question, but climate can really affect plant growth. Some areas are super hot while others are having unexpected cool spells this summer. Also, make sure you have both male and female flowers on your plants—if not, you might want to try hand pollinating them, especially since pollinator activity has been down lately.

It's been really hot and rainy where I am, and my plants get full sun when it's not raining. I’m a bit confused about the flowers though—how do I know if I have both male and female ones?
