What’s Happening with My Bleeding Heart Plant?

I'm concerned about my Bleeding Heart plant. Here's a pic: [link to image]. Do you think it's getting underwatered? Or is it just overrated? It's in the high Rockies of Colorado and gets sunlight until about 1 PM, but then it's shaded during the hottest part of the day. Any thoughts?

It might be an issue with the soil not providing enough nutrients for your plant. Have you checked that? If you're worried about fertilization, I recently added some to mine, and it really helped. It’s only its first year, so that could be a factor too!

I already fertilized mine, but it's a first-year plant. I actually forgot that I planted the root last year!

Yup, it seems like mine go dormant when the heat kicks in too. When that happens, I usually cut them down, and they come back strong every year. Nothing to worry about if you take care of them!

I’ve had my Bleeding Heart for about 15 years, and they usually start looking like this when the weather warms up. I just cut mine back to the ground, and they always come back fine the next spring. Just a heads up, though—I’m in Michigan and my plants are pretty established, so I’d be cautious with a first-year plant like yours.
