I'm looking for a solid 1/4" impact driver and drill combo set that isn't overkill but will get the job done for home projects like fence and deck work. I won't be using it every day, just for things like hanging shelves and changing hinges. I previously had the DCK278C2, which I loved but sadly gave away. I want to stick with DeWalt, and I'm considering the DCK2051D2 set with the DCF850, which I've seen for $229 at Home Depot. I'm a bit unsure about the speed options on this model since my last impact only had a variable trigger. As a mostly novice user, I'm leaning towards something simpler. Any suggestions or deals you guys can share?

I picked up the DCF850 with the DCF805 drill a little while back and I've been really happy with it. The impact driver is compact but packs a punch! I’d steer clear of the 809 driver though; stick with the 850. It's worked great for me on various projects around the house.
Quick question! How do you find the speed settings? Do you need to change them often when using the impact?

I just got the same kit! I haven't used the drill a ton yet, but that impact driver is amazing—got through installing a privacy fence without any hiccups!
