I'm on the hunt for an air purifier to help with the musty smell that's lingering in my old house, possibly due to some hidden mold. We're currently trying to locate where the mold is, but it seems like it might be inside the walls. Any recommendations?

Any True HEPA purifier will do the job. Winix is a favorite since they’re reasonably priced and you can easily find replacement filters. Depending on your space, you might need a couple to cover your whole house adequately.
While air purifiers won't eliminate mold, I've had good experiences with Winix models from Costco. I've got four of them at home, and they definitely help reduce dust. I like to think they might assist during cold and flu season too, but it's hard to quantify that. Plus, if they start to get noisy, returning them to Costco is pretty hassle-free!
It's crucial to find and fix the moisture issue causing the mold, or it'll just keep coming back. In the meantime, a solid air purifier alongside a dehumidifier can help improve the air quality. Look for one with a True HEPA filter to capture those mold spores and a large activated carbon filter for odors. Make sure it's suitable for your room size to really work effectively. Also, I found some data on popular air purifiers here: [https://redditrecs.com/air-purifier/](https://redditrecs.com/air-purifier/)—you can filter by mold comments!
Awesome, thanks! Is the Winix 5510 the same as the 5500-2 model?

True! If you're looking to tackle viruses, you really need a medical-grade purifier. But yeah, ventilating and keeping windows open is really important.
