What’s the Best and Cheapest Way to Get Distilled Water for My Venus Fly Trap?

Hey everyone! I recently got a Venus Fly Trap and learned it needs distilled water. I've been buying battery water from a store, but it's getting pricey. Making distilled water at home seems complicated, and living in an apartment means I can't really catch rainwater. Does anyone have tips for affordable ways to get distilled water or make something similar for my plant? Thanks a lot!

Distilling water at home isn't too tough! You just heat tap water until it turns into vapor, then let the vapor cool down so it becomes water again. This process gets rid of any minerals. Just be careful about how you collect it!

That's interesting, but I'm curious how you'd actually collect the distilled water after? Any tips?

You can find gallons of deionized (DI) water for about $1 to $2 at places like Target or Walmart in the bottled water section. It's a great, budget-friendly option for your plants! Also, if you're concerned about chlorine in tap water, letting it sit out for a couple of days helps. Just check with your water company if you're worried about chloramine though!

You might want to consider getting a water distiller; I’ve seen them on sale for as low as $30. It could save you money in the long run!
