What’s the Best Bird Food and Water Solution?

I'm curious about what the best options are to feed birds. Currently, I provide suet pellets, fat balls, and some seeds. Do you all think this is the ideal mix for their diet? Plus, I try to keep a bowl of water out for them, but honestly, I'm tired of the constant cleaning and refilling. I'm considering getting a bird water feature with running water, but I'm unsure about the upkeep and costs involved. Any advice?

In the summer, I usually put out seeds and peanuts, and in the winter, I add fat balls because I think it's really important for birds to have some fat during nesting season. It can get a bit messy sometimes, but it’s worth it for the birds!

Have you thought about setting up a small pond? It can serve as both a food source and a water supply for the birds. You might want to just offer whatever food seems popular with the birds in your area. Suet and seeds typically work well, but just remember that different types of birds might prefer different feeders. For example, robins and blackbirds won’t use a standard bird feeder—so having a variety is key!

I didn't realize that some birds need different feeder types! I have a couple of trays and one long feeder for the fat balls. I've been considering a pond for a while but I'm worried about costs and maintenance—especially keeping it from getting stagnant.
