Hey everyone! I previously asked about the best hedge cutter, but I've come to realize that choosing the right battery platform for cordless gardening tools is even more crucial. I plan to get a strimmer and possibly a leaf blower later, so I want something that allows me to use the batteries across different tools. I was offered a Kress 40V hedge trimmer for around £240, but I'm worried that the batteries won't work with other products. I've heard mixed things about DeWalt hedge trimmers, although my dad swears by their drills and angle grinders. I also think voltage is an important factor. Any recommendations or thoughts? Thanks a lot!

If you're looking for reliability, I'd suggest Stihl or Husqvarna. I've had a Stihl hedge cutter for a while now, and it's solid. Just make sure you get pro-grade stuff; otherwise, it might not hold up long. My second-hand 2-stroke works like a charm after a year! I've heard the Makitas aren't as powerful either.
I've been using Stihl as well, but keep in mind it can be pricey. Think about how often you need to use the tools and whether it's worth buying two batteries upfront or just one. Budget wisely!
Check out Husqvarna for sure! Their batteries work across different brands, not just theirs. Ego is also solid—decent reputation and great for commercial use if that's in your plans.
Thanks for the advice! I’ve been leaning towards Stihl but didn’t know they had battery versions too.
