I've got a plastic vapor barrier in my crawl space, but following some recent heavy rains, I've noticed there's water accumulating down there. A foundation company is scheduled to come between mid-April and May to address some repairs, treat for mold/mildew, and install a sump pump. Until then, I'm looking for ways to remove the water. I'm considering a few options: a yard pump from Amazon or Harbor Freight, a temporary sump pump from Harbor Freight for $59, or possibly borrowing/renting a trash pump, though those seem a bit pricey. Any advice?

First off, you should definitely try to figure out how the water is getting in there. Check if the soil around your house has settled—sometimes that can lead to water pooling. Make sure your downspout drains are clear and working too. If your gutters are overflowing, it might be time to grab a ladder and clear those out!

Good point! I've noticed one of my downspouts and the flex hose is broken, which seems to be a big part of the problem. The foundation company will handle the crawl space issues and install a sump pump when they come. I’ll definitely fix the downspout and gutter issue too. Just need to make sure it’s dry down there before they arrive.
