Hey everyone! I'm trying to set up my own workshop and need some advice on which saw to get. I have a bit of experience working in different shops but never owned tools myself. Initially, I thought about getting a tabletop bandsaw since I'm comfortable using one. But I already have a jigsaw, and I'm questioning whether the bandsaw would just overlap and be more than I need.
What I'm looking for is a saw that can make precise cuts to reduce sanding later on. It should be able to handle medium-sized pieces and hardwood (if I take it slow). Is a bandsaw still the best bet, or would a different type of tabletop saw be more suitable? My budget is around $800 AUD, which is about $520 USD or £380 GBP. Any suggestions?

I'd say go for a small table saw! It's the tool you'll use the most in the long run. Even a lower-powered table saw, paired with a good quality thin kerf blade, can handle hardwoods really well. It’s super versatile, too.

Absolutely! I’ve got a table saw and it gets a lot of use in my shop. It’s great for making clean cuts on various materials.
