I'm starting my journey into carving spoons, bowls, and other projects, and I'm on the hunt for a reliable carving axe. Any recommendations?

If you want high-quality axes, check out Djarv. They have a fantastic selection and their axes are hand-forged, which is always a plus for quality. You won't be disappointed!
If you're just getting into carving, check out your local hardware store for carpenter or rigging hatchets. They’re designed more for shaving and carving rather than splitting wood. You can really feel the difference in thickness and contour of the blade. If budget isn't an issue and you want something stylish, dive into axe specialty shops for some premium options. Personally, I use a 100-year-old Germantown carpenter axe passed down from my grandmother, and you can often find similar old heads on eBay at reasonable prices!
For a solid starter axe, I’d recommend the Fiskars 14” hatchet, which you can easily find at hardware stores. It’s a favorite among some skilled spoon carvers I know, and it's affordable too! If you're looking to spend a bit more, check out brands like Robin Wood or the Sheffield axes, but make sure you're ready for that higher price tag. Happy carving! ?

The Fiskars X15 is a great option too, especially if you get it with the Xsharp sharpener in the package. Totally worth it for the price!
