What’s the Best Drywall Anchor for Hanging a 17 lb Picture?

I'm trying to figure out the best drywall anchor to use for hanging a picture that weighs 17 pounds. I currently have some anchors, but I've heard they might not be the best choice. I've seen recommendations for zip toggles but I'm not sure if that's too much for this weight. I want to be safe and ensure my picture stays up! What do you all recommend?

For hanging a picture, it’s great to consider how weight is distributed. I recommend using anchors like WallClaw anchors which are designed to spread the load nicely across the drywall. They're easier on the wall and don’t leave those ugly big holes. You could check these out!

Nice suggestion! I like the idea of minimizing wall damage while still being secure.

If you want something really straightforward, using a couple of Ook hooks with double or triple nails can also do the trick. They’re pretty sturdy for a light picture and won’t require a lot of fuss!

Definitely steer clear of those cheap plastic anchors! They’re a recipe for disaster. I’d suggest going for the zip toggles—they're reliable for heavier items. Yes, it might seem like overkill for just a 17 lb picture, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. You really don’t want your picture falling off the wall just because you were trying to save a buck on anchors!

Agreed! Better to invest in good toggles than risk losing a favorite picture. Plus, they give you the peace of mind!
