I'm planning to renovate my bathroom this spring, and I need a flooring option that's kid-friendly and can handle lots of water. What type of flooring would you recommend for durability and cost-effectiveness?

Tile is definitely the go-to for many commercial spaces for a reason. While I’ve used LVP in a half bathroom, I'd suggest avoiding it if you're expecting a lot of splashing. Linoleum is another option - it’s affordable and easy to clean, but it won't look as nice after some years compared to tile.
I recently installed tile myself, and I’d highly recommend it! It’s a bit more work, but worth it in the long run. Keep a squeegee handy to make cleaning easier.
Engineered vinyl flooring is a great choice for wet areas. It's quite durable and easy to install if you’re looking for something quick and reliable.
You can't go wrong with porcelain or ceramic tile, or even LVP/LVT if you prefer vinyl. They're pretty much the standard recommendations for bathrooms due to their water resistance. Just make sure to properly seal any seams with LVP.
