What’s the Best Large Plant for an 8 Inch Pot?

I'm looking for some advice on houseplants, specifically for my office setup. My employer just changed the rules and now I can only have a maximum of three plants in pots no bigger than 8 inches. I used to love having a shelf full of plants in my office, but now it's all gone. I'm a bit frustrated because I've been working here for 12 years and really enjoyed the greenery. Since I'll be back in the office five days a week with this new limitation, I'm hoping to find out what the biggest plants I can grow in an 8 inch pot are. Any suggestions to help me add some green back into my space?

If you want something more tree-like, consider going for a parlor palm, corn plant, yucca, or dracaena. Fiddle leaf figs and rubber trees can also fit in smaller pots and provide a nice height. I have a couple of alocasias that have become quite tall, and they look fantastic! Happy jungling!

One solid choice would be a pothos. They can vine out and get quite large while still thriving in an 8 inch pot. Plus, they're really easy to care for!

So sorry to hear about the office restrictions! I'd suggest looking for something tall that can grow on a moss pole. It could add that vertical greenery you’re missing. Good luck finding the right plant!

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely check out options that can climb!
