Hey everyone! I'm a welding student and I'm looking to buy my own angle grinder, specifically M18 compatible. I've used my dad's M18 tools and really liked the 8.0 Ah battery because it balances lightweight and runtime nicely for me. I've also tried the 12.0 Ah and 6.0 Ah batteries, but I'd love to hear your favorites! If you have experience with angle grinders or welders, which ones do you recommend? I'd likely go for a 5-inch grinder.

I usually go for the 6.0 Ah battery. It gives a bit more peak power than the 8.0 Ah and it's a good deal price-wise. I skipped the 6.0 Forge packs because they seemed too costly for the benefits. XC packs just don’t seem worth it unless you’re doing really light work. If you can find 8.0 Forge packs at a good price, I'd recommend giving them a try.
I think the 8.0 Ah Forge batteries are the sweet spot! They give you a good balance of weight and runtime, but if you need more time between charges, the 12.0 Ah batteries are great, just be prepared for the extra weight.
I hear you! I've got the 12s but don't use them much since they feel heavy and I have shoulder issues.
Totally agree with you on the 8.0 Ah! It's the ideal choice for versatility.
It really depends on your usage. How long are your grinding sessions, and what materials are you working with? Have you considered the Forge batteries? They might be worth checking out!
I haven't tried Forge yet. Right now, I'm mostly cleaning and grinding to prep for tests.

Thanks for the insight! I’ll definitely try testing the power of the 6s vs. the 8s tonight.
